Report from the Zone 2 Meeting –  Lawrie Johnson, Zone Two Rep

Zone 2 meeting was held at Riverlea Theatre on Saturday 19th July hosted by Musikmakers. 

52 People attended the meeting representing 10 out of the 12 Societies in the Zone.  This was an amazing turnout.

All societies reported on their activities of the last six months and it was great to hear that everyone is so busy in their own communities.  Lawrie presented a concise report on the latest MTNZ Meeting held in June in Auckland.  It was also great to have John Antony, MTNZ President attend the meeting as well.

David (Fossy) Atkinson gave us an interesting orientation of the MTNZ Web site and by the questions that were asked it was obvious that people gained a lot of knowledge from this exercise, even if it was to find out how old wonderful Kate is.

We were ably entertained by Sarah Bettle (Communications officer for Hamilton City Council) with her presentation on Advertising and Marketing and the knowledge that she expended was very well received.   Everyone would have gained something from this presentation.

A presentation was made to Glenys Porter from Tauranga who was the Zone Secretary for a large number of years, so many she cannot remember when she started.  Unfortunately Ray Spence was ill and unable to attend; we will find a suitable occasion to present Ray with a token of our thanks.  39 people stayed on for a lovely dinner and a had a great deal of fun with the Quiz Night that followed.  All in all a very successful meeting
