Harlequin Musical Theatre
Harlequin Musical Theatre started as Howick Light Opera Group in 1959, the first musical was in 1960 - Sally by Jerome Kern. Current membership is 150 and they are predominantly from Howick, Bucklands Beach, Pakuranga and Manukau City in Auckland.
They own their well-equipped
"boutique" Harlequin Theatre which seats 140. They have produced over 90 shows
over the past 40 years and recently marked this achievement with a successful
reunion and concert. Howick's choice of shows varies from G&S, original pantos
to small cast shows like Nunsense and Stepping Out to the large scale
musicals. The casts mainly come from all over the Greater Auckland area with
popular successful shows attracting high quality performers.
